AT MARK’S NORTHEASTERN FURNITURE FOUNDATION WE KNOW THE PROBLEM
A house is not always a home.
Right now, one in seven families across New England cannot afford basic furniture. Half of these households have children. Access to proper beds, chairs, and tables is essential when nurturing a secure living environment. While these residences struggle without, nearly 10 million tons of furniture is thrown away every year in the United States. Half of that furniture is in perfectly good, working condition. All that usable furniture is piling up in New England landfills—space is running out––fast. The least recycled household item, furniture, is also the most needed.
Here at Mark’s Northeast Furniture Foundation, we know how to fix both problems. As a matter of fact, we’re already working on it! Since we’ve started, we have recycled and donated one million pounds of furniture to families in need here in New England.
